All four convicts of death row in the rape and murder case of the Nirbhaya gang were moved to prison number three of the Tihar prison complex on Thursday, where they will be hanged, a prison official said.
The four prisoners in the death cell – Vinay Sharma, Akshay Kumar Singh, Mukesh Kumar Singh and Pawan Gupta – were to be hanged on January 22. However, the Delhi government told the Supreme Court on Wednesday that their execution had to be postponed in view of the tendency of a mercy petition by one of the convicts.
“We have moved all four convicts to Tihar prison number three, where the execution will take place,” said a senior prison officer.
Until now, Vinay Sharma was imprisoned in prison number four, while Akshay, Mukesh and Pawan were imprisoned in prison number two of Tihar.
